We are experienced at winding up estates of all sizes and can also provide inheritance tax advice in the preparation of wills and also, when required, for post death planning.
Making a Will is a relatively inexpensive and easy matter to arrange. Leaving a Will regardless of the value of your assets ensures that your estate goes to the people that you wish it to go to and can make the whole process much quicker and less expensive than dealing with estates where someone has died without leaving a Will.
We can guide you through the process of making a Will which may be very straight forward or should you require more detailed advice this can also be provided. If inheritance tax is likely to be due on the value of your estate there are a number of inheritance tax planning schemes and options which might be suitable to minimise any tax likely to be paid by your Executors.
ADMINISTRATION OF ESTATES
“Winding up the estate” is the term used for ingathering and realising a person’s estate. An Executor must value, gather and realise the estate left by a deceased person. We can provide expert advice on dealing with this to include the application for Confirmation (referred to as probate in England) which gives the Executors title to deal with the estate of a deceased person. If Inheritance Tax is due on the estate we can also complete on behalf of the Executors the Inheritance Tax Return and ensure that the correct amount of Inheritance Tax is paid on the estate.
If you would like to discuss the process in more detail then please do not hesitate to contact Alison Hodge.
There can be a number of other matters which can arise from estates which we are happy to provide advice on ranging from making claims for legal rights on an individual’s estate to dealing with the estates where there is no Will to include tracing beneficiaries where is no Will.
